With an emphasis on project process, local context, and community engagement, Lauren has photographed multiple design build projects. For the Antihuala Community Center, in Chile (shown here), Lauren lived on-site for the project duration and documented the entire development. From student journal entries to daily activities to community events and stakeholder feedback, Lauren worked across multiple mediums to holistically capture the project’s story and its impact on both the municipality and the students. She then worked closely with iitdesignbuild leadership to prepare the narratives for architectural award submissions.

Awards received: AIA Chicago Small Project Honor Award (2018) and Roberta Feldman Architecture for Social Justice Award, Honorable Mention (2021).

Lauren’s photographs were featured in the May/June 2018 Issue and the Winter 2021 Issue of Chicago Architect Magazine.

*Pavilion was designed by students of the Illinois Institute of Technology.

“It [the project] illustrates what the Chicago architecture community can do outside of Chicago, and what design communities and design students do. It’s a beautiful project.”
