Photography, Video & Construction Support*
Photography / Videography / Narrative Development / Construction Support / Public Relations & Community Engagement
Lauren was commissioned by IIT’s College of Architecture to document the construction process and the completed project as well as assist in the development of the project narrative for marketing and award preparation. Over the course of three months, Lauren photographed the comprehensive construction process of a modest community center in the remote town of Antihuala, Chile. Lauren also participated in the construction efforts, worked closely with the local community, and participated in community events.
*Pavilion was designed by students of the Illinois Institute of Technology. This comprehensive photo essay serves as a visual construction manual. See How to: Build a Pavilion for more details.

Photography & Film Photography Training*
Photography / Medium & Large Format Film Photography Training, Oversight & Film Scanning
Lauren was commissioned to document the construction process and the completed project as well as assist in the development of the project narrative for marketing and award preparation. In addition to documenting the transformation of this underutilized garden into an outdoor classroom and meeting space for students, Lauren taught the iitdesignbuild students film photography. Students were trained on both technical and compositional aspects, beginning with black and white film and advancing to color. This type of photography slows the students down, deepens their connection to their environment, and encourages them to be more intentional about curating the content that they are capturing. The visual training aspects add a personal perspective and contribute to the storytelling process as students prepare material for their portfolios.

Photography & Award Submissions*
Photography / Narrative Development / Copywriting & Copy Editing / Communication Strategy / Public Relations & Community Engagement
Lauren was commissioned to document the final stages of the construction process and the completed project as well as assist in the development of the project narrative for marketing and award preparation. Lauren traveled to the rural, waterfront town of Las Carreras in Loíza, Puerto Rico to capture this adaptable, ADA accessible, open-air pavilion. In response to the devastation brought onto Puerto Rico by Hurricane Maria, the students collaborated with the Loíza community and local residents to create a community space to foster social interaction and to revitalize an underutilized park. Repurposing materials from the construction of the pavilion, the students also made a series of benches, chairs, stools, and tables and distributed them about the town.
